SF Giant 10k Race

I ran the Giant Race in San Francisco last weekend, it was a beautiful morning in the city. The 10k was a nice and easy (no hills). The race started on the street in front of AT&T Park. There was a water view entire run. Going pass the Piers all the way to Fisherman’s Wharf. Once you get to the Wharf the course doubled back to AT&T Park. The finish line was in AT&T Park on the outfield.

Before and after photos from the run.
Items that came with the race registration:
  1. Official orange short sleeve race shirt
  2. Madison Bumgarner bobblehead
  3. 10k finisher medal.

The long sleeve shirt I purchased at the Giant Race Expo.

Things I learned from this race. The Expo was not what I expected. The packet pick-up was at the Expo which was set up in the AT&T Park concourse. There were not as many vendor booths as I thought they’re be. Some booths were packing up to leave with hours still left for packet pick-up on Saturday. There was NO race day packet pick-up.

A few of booths were giving out samples such as Odwalla Beverages and RX Bars. I drink Odwalla beverages so I already knew those are good. The RX Bars was new for me, I actually really like them and have since bought some. My favorites are Coconut Chocolate and Chocolate Sea Salt. Alaska Airlines and Lexus were some of the sponsors, they had booths with some kind of giveaways but I didn’t get in line for either of them.

The Hilton Financial District was the host hotel. There was a shuttle at the hotel to take runners to and from the race on Sunday. I used the shuttle to get to the race and ended up taking Uber back to the hotel after. I did not want to wait. Staying at a hotel in the financial district on a weekend was not convenient for for dining and shopping.

All in all the weather was beautiful, the race route had awesome scenery, and I had fun. Next time I know what to expect from the race and Expo. I would stay at a different hotel closer to more restaurants and shopping.
